The aromas and colours of an incomparable landscape form the backdrop to the journey to the Sarrabus, the region situated in the south-east of Sardinia.

 Reaching it is not difficult: leaving Cagliari, take the SS 125 which crosses the imposing mass of the Serpeddì and the Sette Fratelli mountains, through breathtaking views of thick and woody patches of Mediterranean forest and the wild, bitter and primitive mountain landscape, softened only by streams running at the bottom of irregular and narrow gorges.

At the end of the mountain pass, the panorama changes, flowing into a plain rich with agriculture. At the end of this is Muravera, the most important town in the district.

For those who arrive from Olbia following the same road – the SS 125 – the experience is not dissimilar; the whole journey is characterised by unforgettable views.

Muravera is located in a river valley framed by the lakes Feraxi, Colostrai and Salina. The fauna is typical of humid areas (pink flamingos, cavalieri d’Italia (trans: “Italian knights”), coots, mallards) and can only be found in a handful of places in the Mediterranean. The town is part of an area which extends from the source of the Flumendosa river to the beaches of Feraxi and Costa Rei, famous for its brilliant white sands.
